When you say “Biker” folks tend to get confused. So, I’m a bikist, again. Or I will be in a week.
Years ago, I worked for Time-Warner Cable here in Lincoln. There was a Dairy Queen across the street I used to visit for their $5 lunches and short walk from there was a bicycle shop.

Now, quite a while ago, I was serious about bicycling. I had three or four magazines, back when magazines were a thing. And I had a Schwinn LeTour Luxe, a serious road bike I used quite a bit for a while. Then Kathie and I got together and moved into an apartment and it was five flights of stairs to get down to the storage carrel, and then three more to get the bike out to the street—so I pretty much quit riding for the twenty years we lived there.

But, there was a nice bike trail to TWC and I hoped to use it. And then I got a job at Allstate, with better hours, better pay and no bike-friendly way to get there. So that was the end of that. I put my brand-new bike out on the back patio and it aged-away, slowly returning to nature.

This week, I took it to the old The Bike Rack at 33rd and Pioneers for a cleaning and a tune-up. A few new odds and ends, a little oil and a nice shine. I’ll pick it up in less than a week and I’ll be the decreasingly fat guy out there on the trails with the big smile on his face.

Look for me!
